Half a dozen egg-cellent Easter activities
•Posted on March 27 2025

This year Easter Sunday falls later than it did in 2024 and has landed on 20th April.
Here are half a dozen egg-cellent (sorry, had to!) Easter ideas and activities to keep everyone entertained across the upcoming long weekend:
1. Plan an Easter egg hunt
Easter egg hunting is almost a rite of passage in our household: is it in yours?
(Side note: remembering exactly where I’ve hidden the eggs is also an annual task in itself!) While hunting for oval-shaped chocolatey-ness will always be a popular hit with our tiny tots, what about these alternative fillable felt Easter eggs suggested by Sew a Softie?
2. Easter egg decorating, with shaving cream
Now, I know what you’re thinking – who, what, why and how?
The same thoughts crossed my mind; however, instead of using vinegar to dye crafty Easter eggs, Martha Stewart has shared her top tips for using shaving cream instead, which is completely child-friendly and will leave our little ones with beautiful tie-dyed eggies to play with.
3. Enjoy a springtime stomp
Less is always more, and just because it’s Easter, we really don’t have to ‘do’ anything. Sometimes, running around and giggling with loved ones in the great outdoors and soaking in Vitamin D works wonders.
Counting lambs skipping in the sunshine, smelling the snowdrops, daffodils and spring garlic, and being together: there’s no better feeling than that, is there?
4. Create a quick and simple Easter bonnet
...Yes, you read that right.
If your children’s school, pre-school or nursery has got in touch to say they’re arranging an Easter bonnet parade, have no fear. Made For Mums has shared their top five last-minute Easter bonnet makes that look straightforward to follow, and incredibly cute!
5. From sewing to sowing and growing
Is your garden starting to spring into action?
Like me, you may be itching to give it some TLC. Well, the great news is that Gardening for Kids has pre-made these lovely kids growing kits for this time of the year which they could get stuck into while our green fingers are getting stuck in too.
From £5.99 per pot, with a little bit of help, they could plant this year’s pumpkin, start a sunflower farm, and see how long sweet peppers and carrots take to get from a seed to your supper table. I have ordered three different pots so we shall see!
6. Settle down with Easter stories
Whatever plans you may have this Easter Sunday, nothing beats sofa snuggles and story time.
There are many fabulous new and well-loved children’s books on the market – some we all know inside out and back to front! If you’d like to add an Easter-inspired book to your mini me’s bookshelf, or perhaps your grandchild’s or friend’s tiny tot, this Three Little Bunnies book from The World of Peter Rabbit would make a hop-tastic addition.
...Number seven on this list would have been a roast with all the trimmings. Delicious.
Wishing you a Happy Easter from my family to yours,
Katie x
