A New Year of storytelling adventures lies ahead of us...
So here at The Little Sock Co., we’ve handpicked a list of children’s bedtime books that’ll inspire our little ones’ imaginations before they snuggle down to sleep and drift away into dreamland.
Some are nostalgic classics; some you and your mini me may be yet to discover together.
Are you sitting comfortably? Then we’ll begin!

1. Puddle’s Big Step by Amber Stewart and Layn Marlow
Perfect for tiny tots who may feel unsure about returning to nursery or pre-school after theChristmas holidays, the words within this children’s book feel like a comforting cuddle.

2. Fox’s Socks by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler
This author and illustrator have created many wonderful ‘lift-the-flap’ stories for littlies, and this one is particularly close to our hearts because we want to ensure all of Fox’s toes are toasty!
Have you seen our Fox’s Socks baby and toddler gift set? You can view it here... (Ps. We can personalise this prezzie for you!)

3. Paddington at the Zoo by Michael Bond
Paddington and his adventures are so magical, aren’t they? Paddington at the Zoo is part of a wholesome series that makes for a lovely read day or night.

4. The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr
This popular bedtime story simply had to feature on this list and is one I can imagine sits pride of place on countless bookshelves.

5. A Great Big Cuddle by Michael Rosen and Chris Riddell
Beautifully written and illustrated, you and your mini me will love immersing yourself within this heavenly poetry book.

6. Peter Rabbit Three Little Bunnies by Beatrix Potter
There’s something quintessentially magical about Beatrix Potter’s stories and this book is a perfect introduction to Peter Rabbit and his tales.

7. The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson
All was quiet in the deep dark wood... Voted one of England’s favourite bedtime storybooks, our family loves The Gruffalo! Do your family love it too?

8. The Jolly Postman or Other People's Letters by Allan Ahlberg
First published in 1986, The Jolly Postman or Other People’s Letters is a treasured rhyming tale which follows a postman making his deliveries around a fairytale town.

9. The Wonderful Things You Will Be by Emily Winfield Martin
From bold and brave to wise and creative, in this relatable children’s poem, Emily shares the excitement and wonder of what shoes tiny toes will grow into.

10. I Love You to the Moon and Back by Amelia Hepworth and Tim Warnes
Celebrating the love between a parent or guardian and their little one, this heartwarming book is ideal for bedtime, and ‘just because’ times.

11. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Although many adults could read this with their eyes closed, they’ll never tire of watching their child’s face light up at the butterfly’s transformation – sound familiar?

12. Old Bear Stories by Jane Hissey
Last but by no means least, Old Bear Stories. The hardback copy we have at home looks ever so slightly tired but is still extremely special and we hope to cherish it for years to come.
