Sweet, savoury and simple Christmas recipes!

Christmas is a time that heightens our children’s senses. From the various sights and sounds to the smells of seasonal foods simmering away in and on our stoves...
So as schools and nurseries close for the year and we’re all tucked up at home together ahead of The  Big Day, I thought I’d find a few foodie, festive activities for our mini-mes to try their hands at:

1. Mozzarella cheese snowmen
As Christmas is always abundant in tasty treats, sometimes it can be tricky to balance sweet with savoury when choccy advent calendars take over and the elves seem to scatter family-sized selection boxes wherever you turn.
However, have no fear as these cheesy but not chilly chaps are here!

Fun to look at, make together and munch, Eats Amazing’s healthy Christmas snacks are bound to intrigue your little ones, add to the festivities in your kitchen and keep tummies full.

2. Quick and easy mince pies
Knowing there’s a crumbly mince pie or two in the cupboard waiting for you when you return home from visiting Father Christmas is a wholesome feeling, so let’s all make a batch!
What I love about this mince pie recipe is that it takes only 15 minutes to prepare, and it’s a cracking Christmas activity for children where they can roll their sleeves up, wriggle their fingers into different textures and see their hard work come together to create small domes of deliciousness.

3. Oven-baked bubble and squeak bites
Mum of two, Grace, from Eats Amazing has written so many fabulous family recipes that I had to pick another festive-themed one for this blog.
Not only do these bubble and squeak bites use up the Christmas leftovers in our fridges (which, in my opinion, always taste better the day after – do you agree?!), but their cute cupcake size will hopefully encourage our tiny tots to tuck into a few more nutritious veggies before their hands reach for the chocolatey bells on our trees.

4. Savoury Christmas shortbread
We all know and love the traditional buttery, sugary shortbread, but have you tried the savoury
alternative?

I must admit I hadn’t until I saw The Healthy Mummy’s parmesan cheese shortbreads. Their melt-in-your-mouth, sugar-free biccies are made using just five ingredients, and you can add a sprinkle of rosemary into the mix if you’d like to enhance their flavour.

...I am now feeling extremely hungry after writing that!

From the small and mighty team here at The Little Sock Co, we’d like to thank you so much for your support this year and wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
