Having just gotten our little ones (and ourselves) back into the swing of our daily routines following the end-of-year celebrations, 14th February may be at the bottom of your priority list...
Whether you celebrate the day or perhaps it passes you by, Valentine’s could be considered a gentle reminder to us all that setting aside time together, whenever and whatever that looks like for you, is so important.

When is Valentine’s Day 2025?
This year, 14th February falls on a Friday instead of midweek. If, like us, a quiet night in will still be on the cards, here are five simple and special ideas to help you arrange your perfect Valentine’s Day at home:

1. Tuck into a Valentine’s meal for two
Why not put down the apron and let someone else create some delicious dishes this year? And with many tasty Valentine’s meals available to buy online or in-store, why not I say!
Here are a few of the ‘dine in for two’ options I’ve found:
Waitrose
COOK
Marks & Spencer

2. Let your mini mes do the cooking
(Not literally!)
But if you do fancy donning your toque and whipping up a Valentine’s Day dinner from scratch, you could make the prep work a fun, family Friday night affair before hunkering down to eat together after your tiny tots have gone to bed.

3. Organise a living room picnic
If the above suggestions aren’t for you, could the in-between foodie option you may be looking for involve an indoor picnic?
Drop into your local shop on your way home on 14th to pick up some picky bits, pop a blanket and the sofa cushions on the floor and voila: your Valentine’s Day date is sorted!

4. Plan a game night
Phones away and game faces at the ready...
If you’ve wanted to dust off that Scrabble or Monopoly box you know has been hiding beneath the stairs for a while, why not do so this Valentine’s Day? Light the candles, pop on a Spotify playlist, and for those of us who are super competitive, keep reminding yourself it’s a friendly game (for one evening and one evening only!).

5. Schedule a movie marathon
Having an excuse to put your feet up on a Friday may be just what you both need.
After pouring your drinks and filling bowls with popcorn, you could choose two movies, sit down, and simply enjoy being in each other’s company in the warm, away from the wintery weather.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
